Succinct and Offchain Labs Forge Exclusive Partnership to Develop zkVM for Arbitrum Ecosystem

Offchain Labs' venture studio Tandem has entered a one-year exclusive partnership with Succinct to build a zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) tailored for Arbitrum chains. The collaboration, announced Tuesday, binds both firms to work solely with each other on this initiative. Financial terms remain undisclosed, though Succinct recently launched its PROVE token through the Succinct Foundation.

The deal accelerates Offchain Labs' strategic push into zero-knowledge proving technology. CEO Steven Goldfeder acknowledges ZK proofs currently lag behind optimistic rollups in speed and maturity, but notes the gap is closing. "Builders on the Orbit stack should know ZK proof options are coming soon," Goldfeder told Bankless.

Succinct contributes its Rust-based SP1 zkVM and mainnet-ready Prover Network to the collaboration. The technology already supports multiple industry deployments including Celestia, positioning Arbitrum for enhanced scalability through advanced cryptographic proofs.
